04 December 2014
As many of you will know, 2014 has seen ThinkPR reach its 10th Anniversary. To mark this milestone, the team has been raising funds for local charity, the Alfie Milne Trust, through our '10years…£10,000’ campaign.
The Trust was established by the parents of seven-year-old Aberdeenshire boy Alfie, who has Lymphangiomatosis, an extremely rare and incurable disease of the Lymphatic system causing benign tumours to spread throughout the body. Its aim is to promote research that will ultimately identify effective treatments and a cure.
In our bid to raise £10,000 on behalf of the Trust and increase awareness of the research it is funding, our Thinkers have been busy throughout the year, providing the good people of Aberdeen with the opportunity to hear about, and give generously to, this worthwhile cause, whilst treating themselves at the same time. Who could resist…?
First off, we brightened up everyone’s Shrove Tuesday (because let’s face it, nobody likes a Tuesday), by hand-delivering tasty pancakes across the city. This went down so well, we knew that you would all enjoy our Wimbledon-inspired strawberries and cream service in June.
Since we all sneaked in a pancake or two ourselves, we felt duty-bound to get back into shape by entering a team of intrepid athletes into this year’s Glack Attack obstacle mud run. PR & Marketing Manager Kylie Roux’s triumphant finish line cry of “We’re tougher than we look!” was a stern warning to those who thought we would fall at the first hurdle!
High-powered intellectualism was the name of the game at our September trivia night. Only joking…lots of good (albeit slightly competitive!) fun was had by all, and with our truly fabulous raffle and silent auction prizes, the night raised a fantastic total of £5,700.
In October, we returned to the goodies with ThinkPR’s scarily successful Halloween bake sale. Hungry workers from across the city dropped in to ThinkPR HQ to pick up a tasty morsel or two – all baked by our own fair hands.
"So much of this wouldn’t have been possible without the immense generosity of those who donated prizes, time and enthusiasm to our events and we also send a very special thank you to them for supporting us throughout 2014."
Just last month, we had the privilege of hosting a very glamourous and generous group of ladies at our Ladies’ Night. The evening, which took place in Dusk cocktail bar, included chocolate-making demonstrations, luxury hand massages, specially-created cocktails, uber-glam raffle prizes and - a highlight for the ladies - an auction of some very brave gentlemen who offered a variety of skills to the highest bidders. There’s no doubt that the night was one to remember for all those in attendance.
Looking back on this year’s activities, Annabel Sall, CEO of ThinkPR said: “We’re delighted with everyone’s response to our fundraising activity this year and truly appreciate every donation the Alfie Milne Trust has received.
