Eat, Sleep, Do – Stavanger – ONS

Stavanger, located on the Stavanger Peninsula in Southwest Norway, plays host every two years to Offshore Northern Seas (ONS), one of the world’s largest exhibition and conferences for the energy sector. From 25th to 28th August 2014, 1,250 exhibitors will showcase their latest innovations to over 60,000 visitors. Our helpful guide will help you get the most the most out of your visit to Stavanger.

EAT
The Oil Museum is a must for all visitors. In additional to its interactive exhibits, it is home to Bolgen & Moi, a modern bar and brasserie with an international and relaxed atmosphere. The building was originally an electrical transformer station, and the 12-metre ceiling gives a unique atmosphere to the room. Bolgen & Moi's brasserie offers innovative food and an extensive wine list. The restaurant serves everything from oven-baked pizza to 5-course menus, and a popular breakfast buffet is available. With stunning views across the water, booking a table in advance is recommended for this popular restaurant.

SLEEP
Myhregaarden Hotel is located in central Stavanger, and offers 53 spacious and elegant rooms. With wifi connection, hair dryer, comfortable bed and a great breakfast selection, it gives you everything you need for a great start to a busy day at ONS! Only a 5-7 min walk from the Fiskepiren pier, its central location is close to many bars and restaurants. Shuttle busses organised by the ONS exhibition have pick up points to take conference attendees to the ONS venue.

DO
The Norwegian climate is very pleasant in August. If you get the chance for some time out, why not visit The Pulpit Rock. One the most recognisable natural attractions in Norway, the hike to The Pulpit Rock (or Preikestolen to locals) offers unforgettable views. With an easily accessed path, the hike begins at the Preikestolen Mountain Lodge and it takes around two hours to reach the top. There are good transport connections from Stavanger to the departure point for the hike, by ferry and bus or car.
