Flexlife – attracting venture capital

Flexlife is an innovative, independent company offering specialised support to the subsea sector in the areas of Subsea Project Management and Subsea Integrity Management. It was established in 2007 and offers an integrated package to minimise risk and downtime offshore.

The brief to ThinkPR when we started working with Flexlife in 2008 was simple – hardly anyone in the industry had heard of them and they wanted to raise their profile significantly.

We worked with the three owners/ directors to develop a strategy to build brand awareness in the international subsea sector and among the financial community.

ThinkPR became part of the Flexlife team – advising on profile raising, handling media relations, managing events, co-ordinating brand and marketing campaigns and compiling award entries.

The team also advised on launching Flexlife’s unique products at key industry events globally with the aim of achieving publicity and raising market awareness.

Flexlife was named Scotland’s fastest growing young company by Business Insider magazine in 2010 and has won a raft of awards, including the coveted overall best company in the Scottish Offshore Achievement Awards.

New business has been secured with a number of operators in the North Sea and internationally with expansion into additional regions and operational bases.

More than £1million of publicity has been generated across local, regional, national and international publications, broadcast media and websites, with the PR campaign underpinning recruitment.

Many offers were received to invest in or buy the company and at the end of 2010, growth equity of £5.5million was announced from Maven Capital Partners and Simmons Parallel Energy (SPE).
